It's Beerdependence Day!

That's right folks - it's Beerdependence Day! The day where we celebrate our right as Americans to drink beer, light large fires to cook processed meats and set off dangerous explosives....err something like that. Just be sure you're drinking a fine American craft beer when you're celebrating this weekend because what's more American than that?

If you need yet another reminder of just how good you have it check out these magazine ads the United States Brewers Foundation ran during the McCarthy era.   Due to pressure from the neo-prohibitionists during that time beer was again in danger of being illegal in the US.  Beer belongs...enjoy it!

You can see all 120 of the Home Life in America series in the gallery below. This Flickr gallery is best viewed in full screen. To view it that way, after clicking on the arrow in the center to start the slideshow, click on the button on the bottom right with the four arrows pointing outward on it, to see the photos in glorious full screen. Once in full screen slideshow mode, click on “Show Info” to identify each ad’s title, artist and the year it ran.

I've been told that I have a beer dependence. I also have a food dependence so it can't be all bad.

Happy 4th!
